This is a brief overview of the activities of the Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities in FY 2005-6:

• Sponsored a "Self Employment Panel - Resources and Information for the Rehabilitation Professional"
• Launched an electronic newsletter titled "Abilities"
• Displayed our education and information booth at:
• the Vermont Business & Industry Expo in Burlington;
• the Society for Human Resources Management annual conference in Lake Morey;
• the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility conference in Burlington;
• the Franklin County Career Expo and Job Fair in St. Albans; and
• the Veteran's Administration Job Fair in White River Junction.
• Solicited and selected winners of the 2005 Governor's Awards on the Employment of People with Disabilities
• Supported the planning and facilitation of the Governor's Summit on Employment of People with Disabilities
• Conducted an Employer Forum in Brattleboro, Vermont (planned for October 2006) entitled "Know the Advantages of Hiring Individuals with Disabilities"
